These trailblazing innovators continue to inspire women all over the world. This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Karen Lynch.

Lynch’s three decades of experience in the healthcare industry made her the perfect fit for CVS Health. As CEO of CVS Health, Lynch oversees more than 9,900 pharmacies, over 1,000 MinuteClinic and HealthHUB locations, and serves 34 million people through health insurance services. Lynch also led CVS during the height of the COVID pandemic.

Karen Lynch Beginnings

Lynch was born and raised in Ware, Massachusetts. She attended Boston College and The Questrom School of Business. In 2015, she was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Becker College. Lynch’s first job was as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for Ernst & Young.

Becoming CEO of CVS Health

Before her time at CVS, Lynch worked at Aetna and rose from Executive Vice President of Speciality Products to President. During CVS’ 2018 acquisition of Aetna, Lynch took on the role of Executive Vice President, CVS Health.

During her first months as CEO in February 2021, Lynch took control of CVS Health’s COVID response. Under her leadership, the company administered about 40 million COVID-19 tests and more than 42 million vaccines.

Lynch’s work throughout her career has not gone unnoticed. Since 2019, Lynch has been featured in Business Insider’s Top 100 People Transforming Business list, Forbes’ The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, 50 over 50 list, and the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business.

Apart from her work at CVS Health, she is also a trustee of the Bushnell Performing Arts Center, a member of the Global 50, and a member of the Boston College Women’s Council.
