About Hope

Early Years

Hope Smith was born in the small town of Port Lavaca, Texas, where she spent much of her time with her mother and grandmother. From an early age, Hope possessed a passion for modeling and fashion. She was ambitious, completing an accelerated program at Hope High School, and graduated with a diploma at 16, less than a year after being crowned Miss Texas Teen America.

Launching Her Career

Graduating early allowed Hope to take the next steps in her career as a fashion model. After winning Miss Texas Teen America, she was signed by Wilhelmina Models in New York City. Within a short time, she was wearing brands like Balenciaga, Patek Philippe, and Versace on runways all over the world. Between modeling jobs she became a licensed esthetician and worked on television as a host and producer on Inside Fashion (Canada) and was a contestant on “Celebrity Apprentice.” In 2018, she also became a doula. Today, she is a mother of four and the wife of entrepreneur, philanthropist, and American businessman Robert F. Smith, who is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners.

In 2019, she founded MUTHA™, the luxury skincare brand that celebrates women and their bodies at every stage of their lives.

Supporting Others

Hope strives to be an advocate for women and children, participating and donating to organizations like Unlikely Heroes, Together We Rise, and International Medical Corps. For both her career and philanthropic efforts, she has earned such honors as the International Medical Corps’ Humanitarian Award in 2018 and was listed among WWD Beauty’s Emerging Brand Founders and Forbes Inspiring Female Founders in the Beauty Industry in 2020.

Philanthropy

Hope Smith’s humble beginnings and experiences throughout her life and career have helped fuel her passion for philanthropy. As a dedicated mother herself, Hope provides support to many organizations that offer aid to struggling women and children. Over the years, Hope has been personally involved with or made donations to Together We Rise, The Bail Project, The Conscious Kid, Beauty United, Unlikely Heroes, and more. She and her husband, Robert F. Smith, also often host 50 college-aged foster children every holiday season as part of supporting Together We Rise.

Hope is also actively involved with maternal and infant health programs at the International Medical Corps. For example, she has journeyed to Jordan to visit a refugee camp, one of the many villages where the program operates. In 2018, the International Medical Corps honored both her and her husband with the organization’s Humanitarian Award.
