A Brand I Love: APL

One of the most important things about working out is finding athletic wear that makes you feel comfortable and provides what you need to do the best workout possible. Enter APL, short for Athletic Propulsion Labs, an athletic wear brand that’s determined to bridge the gap between luxury and performance. Read on to see how they pull that magic act off.

The Story of APL

APL was founded in 2009 by twins Adam and Ryan Goldston. The brothers were collegiate athletes and created APL to intersect luxury and performance. And when the NBA bans your shoe for “providing an undue competitive advantage,” you know you might be onto something.
Adam and Ryan have been honored by the White House as part of the Empact 100, an honor given to the top 100 entrepreneurs under the age of 35 in the United States. The brothers have also been honored by Forbes, Men’s Fitness, Los Angeles Business Journal, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
On top of all of that, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti declared October 12th as Athletic Propulsion Labs, LLC (APL) Day in the City of Los Angeles.

How APL leads innovation

APL is globally recognized as a leader in athletic footwear and apparel. The Goldston brothers’ drive for innovation and research culminated in the APL Concept X, a shoe that includes an updated version of the Load ‘N Launch technology that got APLs banned from the NBA.
This innovation led APL to be carried in over 300 of the finest luxury retailers in the world from Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Net-A-Porter, Mr. Porter, Barneys New York, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, ShopBop.com, East Dane, Lane Crawford, Level Shoes, Matches Fashion, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges to Le Bon Marché.

How APL Gives Back

APL is committed to supporting its global and local communities with new and innovative ways to make a difference.
Some of the causes that APL supports include:
  • Women’s Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), A Breast Cancer Research Foundation
  • Shelter Partnership
  • Mychal’s Learning Place
  • Otis College of Art & Design
  • Learning Lab Ventures
  • BABY2BABY
  • NFTE
