During the winter months, many people cope with air that’s cold and dry. The below freezing temperatures can have a significant impact on a person’s skin. Especially in winter, your skin needs some extra TLC and a traditional moisturizer may not be able to provide everything it requires. Try switching out your traditional body moisturizer to a body butter that offers a rich and more nourishing texture, delivering hydration and glow to your skin for days. Before you switch over to body butter right away, let’s explore what body butter actually is and why you should consider adding it to your skincare routine.
Body Butter vs. Body Lotion
The main aspect that makes a body butter stand out from any other kind of skin moisturizer is its texture. Body butter has a thick texture that makes it great for spreading across skin and providing a long-lasting moisture barrier. On the other hand, a body lotion typically contains a more water-based formula, giving it a lighter texture and allowing it to quickly absorb into the skin. Both products focus on restoring the moisture in your skin and helping alleviate dryness. The main difference between the two is the texture — body butter is thick and body lotion is a thinner consistency.
The Benefits of Body Butter
Body butter is something that can be used on many different areas of the skin including your face, body, hands, and feet. As a mom in particular, you might choose body butter to help alleviate stretch marks around the stomach and hip area. Luckily, with hydrating ingredients such as cocoa butter and mango butter, there are many benefits to using body butter on your skin, including:
- Minimizing stretch marks
- Hydrating the skin
- Forming a protective barrier on the skin to defend against environmental threats
Ingredients Matter: What’s in MUTHA™ Body Butter?
When it comes to body butter, ingredients are important to ensure the hydration lasts for longer than just a couple hours. Hope Smith, CEO and founder of MUTHA™, took the process of selecting ingredients seriously when she started creating body butter in her kitchen in 2014. She wanted to create skincare products with effective ingredients that would benefit the skin. The MUTHA™ Body Butter was the very first product that was launched in her skincare line. She also took her ingredient quality very seriously, ensuring that when products are labeled “organic” that they have actually met vendor-certified testing, so you know what’s going onto your body. Here are a few of the powerful ingredients that Hope puts in her body butter:
Mango Butter
Mango butter is one of the primary ingredients in MUTHA™ Body Butter. It provides a rich source of fatty acids that contain vitamin C properties. Vitamin C is known to help boost and brighten the skin after prolonged use. Mango butter also contains vitamin A which can help give the skin a youthful glow and appearance. Together, these properties help protect the skin’s natural barrier.
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa butter is another ingredient that is in the MUTHA™ Body Butter. It contains antioxidant polyphenols which are typically high in fatty acids. Fatty acids help to hydrate and provide essential nourishment to the skin. Other natural plant compounds that can be found in cocoa butter include phytochemicals, vitamin E, and vitamin K. These all help improve elasticity of the skin.
Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil is one of the most popular ingredients used in MUTHA™ products and a primary ingredient in the MUTHA™ Body Butter. This non-fragrant emollient plant oil has antioxidant properties containing both vitamins C and A as well as other skin calming properties which help protect and replenish the skin’s vital barrier.
How the MUTHA™ Body Butter is Created
There is a very specific process that goes into creating the MUTHA™ Body Butter from selecting the raw ingredients that are used to testing the final product. The entire process could take anywhere from three to six months due to the natural and organic nature of some of the ingredients used that can’t be harvested year round. Once these raw materials are sourced, the rest of the manufacturing process can take 10 days or more for each batch.
The Body Butter formula is unique from others on the market in its efficacy, texture, and user experience. There is a very labor intensive and complex manufacturing process that goes into creating the Body Butter to ensure that all quality standards are met. The process satisfies the growing demand for this product and the cult consumer needs while maintaining the artisanal quality. There are six different mixing steps each with its own parameters of quality check within the batch creation.
MUTHA™ simply doesn’t cut any corners when it comes to creating a high quality Body Butter. The same process that Hope used in her own kitchen when creating MUTHA™ is mimicked through the process used today. Due to the premium nature of these products, they only select the highest quality ingredients to use.
